Amy Jade Winehouse was born to Jewish parents in Southgate, London, England, London in the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Amy has an older brother called Alex.

Winehouse attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School from the age of 12 through to 14, when she was told to leave the school for a piercing in her nose and for not being committed to the training.

Her first album "Frank" was released in Britain in 2003 and received good reviews from critics and the public. She won several awards for her debut album and grew a reputation in the United Kingdom, but was still relatively unknown outside of her country.

Her second album "Back to Black" was released in 2006 and gained critical success, along with an established reputation
worldwide. Songs like "Rehab" and "You Know I'm No Good" helped to establish Amy Winehouse as an international talent.

The personal life of Amy Winehouse has become food for the tabloid media, with the singer hounded by the paparazzi everywhere she goes.
